Q: How can I make sure I have the latest firmware running on my Starter Kit or Development Kit?
A:
1) Download and install Simplicity Studio from http://www.energymicro.com/software/simplicity-studio
2) In the Windows Start menu, go to the Energy Micro folder and start Simplicity Studio
3) Go to Add/Remove under Downloads and make sure you have the latest version of Tools->energyAware Commander and the firmware for your kit under Firmware. If you have trouble updating Simplicity Studio, check out this article.
4) Connect your starter/development kit to the computer with the USB cable.
5) In Simplicity Studio, start the energyAware Commander and click Connect (make sure the Debug Mode is set to MCU). You are fully connected to the device if you can see correct data under MCU Information. If you have problems connecting, you could check out this article. Once connected, the Commander will automatically check the firmware on the kit and give you a choice to update if the firmware package downloaded to Simplicity Studio is newer.
